Capacity

What do you have the capacity for right now?

This is a hard one for medical professionals. No one ever asks us what we have the capacity for. There's work to be done, patients to be seen, notes to write and life & death decisions to make.

One cannot pour from an empty cup.

I was operating on fumes for years with no end in sight.

I would look forward to time off but once I got there my gas tank was on empty.

That's where creativity comes in.

At first it was just daydreaming . . .

Imagining the life I wanted to live . . . days filled with relaxation, inspiration and expression

And then I rediscovered art

If I'm being honest it was essentially finger painting.  Putting acrylic paint on paper, very abstract to say the least.

But the more I dabbled and played, I noticed a shift.  I felt my battery recharging. Albeit very slowly.

It came in fits and starts.  But I was regaining capacity.
